Alma was born Alma Margaret Low on October 25th, 1922. She passed away on October 30th, 2008. She was 86 years old. She lived a great deal of her life, from about 1962 until 2008 at 229 Sonora Pass Road in Vallejo, California.
When Alma was a young girl, about 20 years old, an artist from Walt Disney saw some of her work and offered her a job which meant she'd have to move to Anaheim, California. She told me her mom said "No" so in spite of being 20 she didn't go. I've often wondered how her life would have been different if she'd taken the opportunity.
I've very seldom in my life seen anyone who could draw the way she could. She could in a matter of 60 seconds draw your portrait with a pencil, ink pen or chalk, and it was absolutely amazing. It would really look like the person she was drawing. She had an amazing eye for art. Her art is unique and yet she often took an existing theme or painting, and then changed it to make it her own.
